Invoicing

Create, send, and get paid — invoicing stays free after your trial.

No Credit/Debit Card Required

Send professional invoices in minutes, and actually get paid faster.

Stop chasing payments. Start getting them.

Creating an invoice shouldn’t take the best part of your morning. Between opening a spreadsheet, adding up the figures, formatting everything to look professional, and then chasing a client two weeks later because they “never received it”, it all adds up to time you don’t have.

With Lite Books, you create a polished, branded invoice in a couple of clicks. Add your customer, pick the products or services, and Lite Books handles the maths, including the correct Irish VAT rate. When you’re happy, send it straight from the app with a single button.

Your customer gets a clean, professional email with a link to view their invoice online. They can pay you directly from that page — by card, Revolut Pay, PayPal, Direct Debit, or bank transfer. You’ll get an email the moment it’s paid, and Lite Books marks it off automatically.

Key benefits:

  • Create and send invoices in minutes, not half an hour
  • Irish VAT rates (23%, 13.5%, 9%, 4.8%, 0%) calculated automatically on every line
  • Your logo and brand colours on every invoice
  • Customers can view, download, and pay online — no back-and-forth needed
  • See at a glance which invoices are paid, part-paid, overdue, or still outstanding
  • Invoicing stays free after your 30-day trial

Build the invoice properly, without the faff

Start from a draft, add line items from your products and services list or type them in, and Lite Books numbers the invoice for you. You can use a simple sequence such as INV-000001, or a date-based number, with your own prefix.

Set prices including or excluding VAT, add a percentage or fixed discount, leave a note or job reference, and take a deposit if you need part of the money up front — a fixed amount or a percentage, with the balance collected later.

Irish VAT on the invoice — without becoming a tax expert

All five Irish VAT rates are built in: 23%, 13.5%, 9%, 4.8%, and 0%. If you’re not VAT-registered, invoices can go out as exempt. Line by line, the rate is applied for you, so you’re not looking up percentages in a spreadsheet.

Selling to other EU businesses, EU consumers, or customers outside the EU is covered on the invoice too — including reverse charge for EU B2B and destination VAT for OSS sales. Filing VAT returns, ROS VAT3 files, and OSS returns is part of a Lite Books subscription, not the free invoicing plan. You can still put the right VAT on invoices either way.

Send it, share it, get paid

Email the invoice from the app, with a PDF attached and a link to a secure payment page. You can schedule the email for later, copy the payment link, or send customers into their own portal where they can see all their invoices, quotes, and statements.

Once you connect your payment providers, customers can pay by:

  • Card, through Stripe
  • Revolut Pay
  • PayPal
  • GoCardless Direct Debit
  • Bank transfer, with your IBAN on the invoice

You choose which methods appear on each invoice. When a payment lands, the invoice updates — paid in full, or part-paid if they send a deposit or a partial amount.

Quotes that turn into invoices

Send a quote first. Your customer can accept or decline it online. When they accept, convert it to an invoice in one click — lines, discounts, currency, and VAT come across with it. Recurring invoices (weekly, monthly, and so on) are included with a Lite Books subscription.

Stay on top of what’s owed

The invoice list shows paid, unpaid, part-paid, and overdue at a glance. Send overdue reminders automatically, write off a bad debt if you have to, and keep a proper payment history on each invoice.

If you sell online, the WooCommerce plugin can create the Lite Books invoice when an order is placed, with Irish VAT applied and the option to mark it paid when the shop order is paid.

Invoice in euro — or in another currency

Most Irish sole traders will stay in euro. If you need to bill in sterling, dollars, or another major currency, you can. Lite Books stores the euro equivalent for your books.

Free invoicing after your trial

Try every Lite Books feature free for 30 days — no card required. When the trial ends, you can keep using invoicing, quotes, customers, products, online payments, and reports at no cost. Recurring invoices, expenses, projects, contracts, and VAT return filing stay available if you subscribe for €9.99 a month.
