Know if you are actually making money
Profit, what you are owed, and stock levels, from the books you already keep.
Most Irish sole traders do not need a 40-page pack from a big-firm accounts package. You need to see what came in, what went out, what customers still owe you, and what to hand your accountant at year end.
Lite Books keeps that in Reports. Profit & loss, the balance sheet, and stock stay available after your trial, even if you stay on free invoicing. VAT summaries, Form 11 guidance, and VAT return filing sit with the subscription, so you are not paying for year-end tools until you need them.
Key benefits:
- Profit & loss from money received and expenses recorded, with a date range and CSV download
- Balance sheet snapshot: outstanding invoices and unpaid bills, plus assets, liabilities, and equity
- Stock levels by product and SKU, with a CSV you can send on
- VAT summary by Irish rate when you subscribe, output VAT, input VAT, and the net due
- Form 11 guidance for sole traders: turnover, ROS line notes, and a tax estimate
- Dashboard trends and per-customer statements (with aging) stay in the everyday screens
Profit & loss that matches money in the bank
The profit & loss report is cash-based. Sales are payments you have actually received (shown excluding VAT), not invoices sitting unpaid. Expenses are grouped by category. The bottom line is net profit or loss for the dates you pick, year to date, a quarter, or any range you need.
Download a CSV when your accountant wants the figures in a spreadsheet. If you add expenses during the trial or on a subscription, those costs show on the same report. On free invoicing after the trial, the P&L still covers the sales you have been paid for.
What you are owed, and what you owe
The balance sheet is a snapshot as of today. Outstanding sent invoices show as money owed to you. Unpaid bills show as money you owe. Assets, liabilities, and equity are listed so you can see the shape of the business at a glance, useful before you chase invoices or sit down with your accountant.
Stock levels at a glance
If you sell products, the stock report lists SKU, quantity, unit price, and whether an item is tracked. You can include products that do not track stock, and download a CSV. WooCommerce products show alongside items you keep in Lite Books. It is a current-levels list, not a warehouse valuation.
VAT summary when you need to file
With a subscription, the VAT report totals output VAT from invoices and input VAT from expenses, broken down by Irish rate, for the period you choose. You see net sales, VAT collected, VAT on purchases, and whether you owe Revenue or are due a refund. Download a CSV for your records.
That report is a working summary, not the return itself. For VAT periods, T1/T2/T3, and a ROS VAT3 file, use VAT Returns. Both sit on the same Lite Books subscription.
Form 11 guidance for sole traders
The income tax report is built for Irish sole traders filling Form 11. Pick the tax year and whether you file as single or married/civil partner. You get turnover from payments received (net of VAT), purchases for resale versus running costs, gross trading profit, and an estimate of income tax, USC, and PRSI, plus the usual preliminary tax and filing reminders.
Underneath is a ROS field guide: what Revenue means on each line, and which Lite Books figure to copy. It is guidance for filling the return, Lite Books does not file Form 11 for you, and it is not tax advice. Your accountant still signs off the numbers.
Day-to-day figures, not only year end
The dashboard shows invoices, payments, outstanding amounts, and expenses over time. Open a customer and you can send a statement that includes aging (current through 120+ days), handy when you are chasing one account, without a separate aged-debtors report for the whole book.
If you run jobs, project screens show invoiced versus costs on that job (projects are part of the subscription). That sits with the job, not in the Reports list.
Included in your trial, reports that stay useful afterwards
Try every Lite Books feature free for 30 days — no card required. When the trial ends, profit & loss, the balance sheet, and the stock report stay free with invoicing, quotes, customers, and online payments. VAT reports, Form 11 guidance, VAT return filing, and expenses that feed the full P&L stay available if you subscribe for €9.99 a month (or €99.99 a year), including VAT.
