Updates to Lite Books Irish accounting app for September 2026

What We Have Been Working On for Lite Books for September 2026

September has been another busy month behind the scenes at Lite Books, and we’ve been making some important changes to how the app works, particularly when it comes to pricing, invoicing and managing customers.

One of our biggest goals has always been to make bookkeeping and invoicing easier and more affordable for Irish small businesses. This month, we’ve taken another step towards that goal by simplifying our pricing and making sure that everyone can continue using basic invoicing features, even without a paid subscription.

Here’s a look at what’s new.

A Simpler Way to Use Lite Books

One of the biggest changes we’ve made this month is to how our subscriptions work.

We’ve moved away from the previous system of selecting individual add-on modules and introduced a much simpler approach.

Every new Lite Books account now comes with a 30-day free trial, giving you full access to the app and its features.

This means you can explore everything Lite Books has to offer, from creating invoices and managing expenses to preparing VAT reports, without having to choose which features you want to try.

Once your trial finishes, you can continue with a paid subscription or simply use our free basic invoicing features.

Our new pricing is straightforward:

  • Monthly subscription: €9.99 per month, including VAT.
  • Yearly subscription: €99.99 per year, including VAT.
  • Basic invoicing: Free after your trial ends.

We believe running a small business is complicated enough without having to figure out complicated software pricing!

Basic Invoicing That Stays Free

We know that not every business needs a complete accounting system.

Some people simply want to create professional invoices, send quotes to customers and keep track of who owes them money.

That’s why we’ve made sure that Lite Books continues to offer basic invoicing features for free after the trial period.

These include creating invoices and quotes, managing customers and products, emailing documents, accepting online payments and allowing customers to access their documents through the customer portal.

If you run an online shop using WooCommerce, you can also continue generating invoices for your orders.

Standard reports remain available too.

For businesses that need more advanced features, such as expense tracking, recurring invoices, contracts, project management, VAT returns and Form 11 reporting, these are included in the paid subscription.

The idea is simple: use what you need, and only pay when you need the additional features.

Better Customer Contact Management

Another useful improvement this month is the ability to add multiple contacts to a customer account.

Previously, managing customer communication was a little more limited, particularly when dealing with businesses where different people handle accounts, purchasing or administration.

You can now add additional contacts to a customer and choose which contacts should receive invoices and quotes by email.

For example, you might deal with one person when arranging a job, but the invoice needs to go to somebody in the accounts department.

This small change should make things much easier for anyone dealing with business customers, particularly tradespeople, contractors and businesses working with larger organisations.

Improvements to Payments and Subscriptions

We’ve also made a few improvements behind the scenes to keep payments and subscriptions running smoothly.

This includes fixing an issue where some customers returning to Lite Books after setting up a subscription through PayPal could encounter an error page.

We’ve corrected that issue to make the process smoother.

We’ve also tidied up the payment settings area, making it clearer which settings relate to Stripe and which relate to GoCardless.

These might not be the most exciting changes, but they’re important for making Lite Books easier and more reliable to use.

What’s Next for Lite Books?

September has been about simplifying things, making Lite Books more accessible and improving some of the everyday features that businesses rely on.

We’re continuing to work on improvements across invoicing, payments, customer management and bookkeeping, with the aim of making Lite Books a genuinely useful tool for Irish sole traders and small businesses.

As always, we’re interested in hearing from the people actually using the app.

If there’s something you’d like to see added, or something you think could work better, we’d love to hear about it.

Thank you for being part of the Lite Books journey.

Whether you’ve been using Lite Books for months or you’re only discovering it now, we appreciate your support.

Until the next update!
